The Tennessee Sheriff’s Association (TSA) is seeking applications for an Executive Director to represent the state’s ninety-five county sheriffs. TheTSA Director will lead the non-profit organization and coordinate training for our sheriffs and meetings for our Board of Directors made up of sheriffs.
The Executive Directors duties include but are not limited to; working closely with state and county law enforcement agencies along with representing the association on state/federal boards and commissions as well as before the State’s General Assembly.
The TSA Director is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Association and serves as its chief fund-raising officer. As a proven law enforcement administrator, the Executive Director is expected to have a strong work ethic and operate with a high degree of character, integrity, and energy.
Resume required with the following qualifications and inclusions:
Education / Degrees Received (Management/Administration or Criminal Justice related Degree preferred)
Management/Administrative Experience (Executive Experience in Law Enforcement preferred)
Strong Financial Management Skills and Budget Preparation.
Ability to Maintain a Positive Working Relationship with Staff
Possess a Strong Level of Integrity and Leadership
An Ability to Envision and Articulate Future Strategies and Goals
Reside or be willing to reside in Middle Tennessee or within a reasonable distance of the TSA Office in Lebanon TN.
Attend all Board Meetings and Sheriff’s Regional Training Sessions.
Be available to travel to various locations within and outside of our State.
Be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
Otherwise available to TSA staff and Sheriffs represented by our Association.
Successfully pass a Criminal and Employment background check. You will need to go to your local Sheriffs’ Office and be fingerprinted and send fingerprint card with application and consent form (Consent form included in application).
Successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Psychological Exam
Additional Salary Information: Salary will be based on qualifications. State Retirement, Company Vehicle, and Health benefits as well.

The Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association (TSA) is a registered non-profit educational organization founded in 1971. TSA business is carried out by a director under the supervision of an executive committee composed of sheriffs from across the state.

The TSA is not organized for financial gain or profit but for the benefit of all law abiding citizens of Tennessee. Money derived from honorary membership dues and donations ...is used to fulfill the above obligations; provide in-service training on a bi-monthly basis for sheriffs, chief deputies, and jail administrators; provide a legislative liaison service for improving laws that protect the citizenry; disseminate educational information and material beneficial to sheriffs; operate a central office and assist in further upgrading and professionalizing county law enforcement.
