Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Associate I for The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES).This position provides professional leadership, management, and support for the SNAP-Ed program in Burlington County. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) is a federally funded grant program that supports evidence-based nutrition education and obesity prevention interventions and projects for persons eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through complementary direct education, multi-level interventions, and community and public health approaches to improve nutrition. The Program Associate I organizes, coordinates, and manages the day-to-day administration and operation of the Burlington County program. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provide outreach, which includes but is not limited to direct education, policy, systems, and environmental change strategies, site/participant recruitment, and program promotion event. Manages a sizeable project budget ensuring compliance with all federal outreach and budget guidelines regarding the project. Prepares appropriate reports in a timely fashion; Ensuring submission of unit travel and expense reports and requisitions for unit supplies. Responsible for project assessment, planning and monitoring. Develops project network(s) and recruits new sites for classes. This includes: seeking out agencies/organizations for program implementation; marketing program; develops, updates, and distributes program marketing materials. Teaches, develops and presents ongoing training sessions for staff and volunteers.Minimum Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in nutrition, health education, public health, or a related health/wellness subject area appropriate to the position responsibilities. A minimum of two years of post-baccalaureate professional experience (including supervision of staff and/or programs), in community health or nutrition-related fieldsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience working with the public and evidence of effective public relations skills Experience teaching or presenting to diverse audiences on health, wellness, or nutrition related topics Excellent computer skills Excellent organizational and problem solving skills Accurate, excellent budgeting and financial management skills Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities Ability to evaluate teaching skills of nutrition educators and support staff, and provide proper supervision and management of staff Ability to train new employees and volunteers Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends, able to travel statewide and have a valid driver’s license.Preferred Qualifications: RDN or CHES Experience implementing community health promotion and behavior change programs Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and have experience working with diverse groups/clientele Experience working with limited resource, urban populations Proficient in the English language and Spanish or Kreyol pertinent to professional needsEquipment Utilized: Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position must have the ability to carry program materials and supplies, including audio-visual equipment; ability to arrange set-up of class space (move tables and chairs) The individual must successfully complete Rutgers Youth Protection and ServSafe trainingSpecial Conditions: Clean Driving RecordPosting Number: 19ST4694 Location: Off Campus |
