Mercer County Community College is seeking a dynamic leader who embraces the College’s mission and our strategic goals of student success, innovative partnerships and organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Vice President for College Advancement, this position supports the VP for College Advancement and the College in all areas of philanthropy and provides executive leadership for the College Advancement Division; which included managing a team of College staff as well as student workers and volunteers. The primary purpose of this position is to mobilize and leverage resources to raise money in support of the College’s mission. Responsibilities include planning, organizing and implementing a major gifts and corporate sponsorship program, directing capital campaigns and creating a Legacy Society, and assisting in philanthropic strategic/planned giving. This position requires excellent organizational, technical and communication skills and must be able to deal effectively with multiple projects and prospects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works with the VP of Advancement to maximize short, middle and long-term fundraising 2. Develops and implements strategies to identify and qualify new prospects for Major Corporate and Individual Gifts to expand and refine the prospect base. 3. Manages and stewards a personal portfolio of major gift donors/prospects and major corporate sponsors 4. Implements and manages the Marketing Plan for Major Gifts and Strategic/Gift Planning 5. Develops and coordinates strategic plan including small “salon-type” events for each major donor/corporate sponsor prospect (moves management) 6. Remains current on matters relating to fundraising through continuing education 7. Prepares formal periodic reports for the VP of Advancement 8. Recommends public relations and marketing actions to promote the fundraising program 9. Prepares solicitation plans and briefing materials for prospect visits for the Vice President for College Advancement, Board and committee volunteers. 10. Implements multiple projects in accordance with College objectives, policies and procedures. 11. Interacts with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the College and its programs, personnel, and philosophies. 12. Works independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relations with other staff, faculty and students. 13. Works with office related software/systems, Microsoft Office, and Raiser’s Edge. 14. Supervises, trains, and develops staff members, student workers, and volunteers.
Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree required. 2. Ten years of experience as a fundraising/ development professional 3. Ten years of increasing managerial responsibility in fundraising or a related field 4. Knowledge in all areas of fundraising/ development 5. Experience managing/ directing capital campaigns 6. Successful Management/Administration/Presentation experience 7. Proficiency in computer related skills to include MS Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point
