This position is responsible for a variety of tasks supporting the production of the national daily public affairs/talk program, On Point, WBURs important nationally distributed production. The Associate Producer/Director develops show topics, produces program hours (one topic per hour), researches, pre-interviews and books guests in consultation with the Executive Producer and program host. The person writes and edits production elements as necessary. Both are primary functions of this position. The Associate Producer/ Director of On Point directs the live production of each hour long program and broadcast for On Point. The position assembles pre-production sound and elements; directs the live broadcast working simultaneously with On Point's Host, the program's Technical Director, the producer of each particular hour and the phone screener. The Associate Producer/Director directs the host including when to play tape, what phone calls to bring into the conversation, monitors the program's pace and works on timing issues with the host on continuity breaks. The communication with the host occurs through the glass in the control room. The position is also responsible for a variety of editorial tasks supporting the production of the daily public affairs / talk program, On Point.
B.A./B.S. and three to five years of related experience.
