Position Summary The Center for Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) seeks a senior leader in energy markets to play an important role in the next phase of CGEP's development. Working collaboratively with the CGEP Director, Executive Director, other members of the CGEP administrative leadership team, and relevant researchers and faculty, the incumbent will organize programming that extends the Center's and SIPA's ability to bring the extraordinary knowledge and capacities of the University beyond the campus to more effectively address our energy and climate challenges. Critical to this role is the ability to operate autonomously and confidently coordinate and lead work across multiple groups to ensure goals and deliverables are achieved in a timely manner. Responsibilities Design and develop deep, lasting, collaborative relationships with individuals, institutions, and businesses around the world focused on energy and financial market issues. A key goal is to enable information sharing across sectors and actors to support interdisciplinary problem solving approaches to policy and business issues. Coordinate with relevant CGEP staff, including the Senior Director for Development and the Events Manager, in executing such activities. Support the design and execution of research initiatives on selected topics at the nexus of energy and financial markets through effective project management that may include the following: coordinating among subject matter experts and external leads to develop, maintain and track project plans and budgets; develop and maintain reporting procedures and tools and serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to address requests for information. Examples of such topics may include, among others: oil markets, natural gas markets, electricity markets, etc. Coordinate with relevant scholars and faculty as well as the CGEP Director of Research Publications. Advise leaders in the public, NGO, and private sectors on key research topics, including advising Congressional and executive branches of the government and national research bodies. A key goal is to activate the knowledge created by scholars and faculty at CGEP, SIPA and across Columbia in applied ways. Act as a primary representative and liaison between CGEP and relevant partners at Columbia University focused on energy and market programming and impact, including Columbia World Projects, Columbia Business School, among others. Coordinate with the Executive Director and Senior Director for Strategy in executing such activities. Represent CGEP at global fora focused on energy and market issues such as: CERAWeek, OPEC meetings, the International Association for Energy Economics, and other such academic, policy and financial gatherings.
