Develop and manage Haas-wide 30+ top philanthropic corporate relationships for Berkeley-Haas, partnering with executive education, faculty, program offices, centers, Haas staff and UDAR to maximize financial impact and increase corporate engagement through an intra-departmental approach.
Actively meet with faculty, in partnership with Career Management Group, Development and Alumni Relations, and Berkeley Executive Education, to keep updated on fundraising opportunities, provide speaker suggestions and connections to industry.
Collaborate with Development and Alumni Relations team to maintain strong industry contacts and identify alumni corporate champions to increase engagement.
May serve as an expert or lead development professional in a specific academic discipline.
Results have a major impact on the overall goals of the program.
Manage a portfolio of up to 100 corporate relations prospects, with the capacity to give between $50,000 and $250,000. Focus on the Top 30 accounts for Haas.
Make at least 10 substantive contacts per month (e.g., significant moves that advance a relationship).
Qualify corporate prospects and solicit gifts directly.
Ensure that predetermined fundraising goals are met and raise at least $1M annually from corporations and corporate foundations.
Research current and future business trends and companies, with focus on Bay Area ecosystem.
Plans, organizes, and directs large-scale fundraising campaigns which include multiple components.
Source new individual and corporate contacts for a variety of engagement opportunities, including on campus speaking, Exec Ed leads, Career Management leads, MBA admissions leads, and new donor pipeline.
Identifies, cultivates, solicits and/or stewards major corporate gift prospects.
Evaluates programs using financial feasibility studies and market research, including planning and evaluating annual solicitation programs and making recommendations for improvements.
Writes proposals for solicitation of corporate prospects.
Actively share information about corporate partners across the school and campus.
Convene monthly to quarterly corporate/business development meetings within Haas and campus UG recruiting office to leverage fully all corporate relationships for the benefit of the school as measured in fundraising results, student job opportunities, corporate presence/affiliation, and alumni engagement.
Provide ongoing consultation and support to undergraduate and MBA student groups, as well as alumni chapters, on best practices in corporate outreach and sponsorship coordination.
May oversee the work of professional and support staff involved in the implementation of multi-component fundraising programs.
Recruits, trains, and supports key volunteers who assist in advancement efforts.
Work on special programs as assigned.
Attend classes which will enhance expertise in job areas.
Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees as appropriate.
Participate in activities that enhance the campus community and/or larger community to further university service.
Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met.
Advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations and public relations with a particular emphasis on institutional gift fundraising.
Advanced knowledge of all aspects of the campus, including relevant issues for both the campus and higher education.
Advanced knowledge of the campus including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, institutional policies, et cetera.
Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
Advanced skill in making persuasive and compelling presentations of campus goals/objectives and securing gifts.
Advanced skill to meet predetermined goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, execution and evaluation.
Advanced analytical, critical thinking, problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills.
Skill to meet or exceed fundraising goals and objectives.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $139,000.00.
