![]() ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MARKETING Department Description DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The six-person Mondavi Center marketing department is the primary internal and external communications and revenue generation arm of a multi-purpose venue and multi-disciplinary arts presenting program on the UC Davis campus. The Assistant Director of Marketing leads the day-to-day operations of a team of marketing professionals with three main responsibilities: ensuring ticket sales, attendance and donation goals are met or exceeded through aligned, multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns; increasing the Mondavi Center's presence both on campus and in the region through effective partnerships, brand building and earned media; and helping establish and tracking expenditures against marketing and advertising budget. JOB SUMMARY Under direction of the Director of Marketing, the Assistant Director of Marketing is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Mondavi Center marketing department, and developing and executing marketing and public relations campaigns in support of earned and contributed revenue generation along with institutional awareness of the Mondavi Center. Drives design and production of promotional materials and press communications. In addition to following Mondavi Center communications standards, the Assistant Director of Marketing integrates marketing standards and priorities expressed in the marketing toolbox (http://marketingtoolbox.ucdavis.edu) and communicated by Strategic Communications. The Assistant Director Marketing looks for opportunities to coordinate with the Strategic Communications office to advance integrated marketing and branding or operational efficiency opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Advanced experience creating, developing, applying and evaluating complex strategic marketing programs and campaigns. Advanced analytical and research skills. Experience in market research, campaign tracking and response analysis. Analytical and presentation skills to interpret data and prepare conclusions and recommendations based upon information collected. Experience with audience segmentation. Familiarity with branding and promotion of performing arts presenters and/or non-profit organizations. Experience applying project and time management principles to define goals, work independently with minimal direction, and to coordinate execution of simultaneous complex projects. Experience forecasting, developing, monitoring and reporting on project budgets. Knowledge of print and electronic publishing techniques and terminology (including editorial, design, printing/production and distribution) to organize and complete publication projects. Knowledge of traditional and evolving media, including formats, styles, timelines and audience reach. Experience assigning, driving and evaluating creative and design work completed by graphic designers, writers, videographers and other vendors. Experience utilizing electronic financial systems, database systems, ticketing systems, electronic mail, web browsers and Microsoft Office to complete professional assignments. Experience supervising, mentoring, developing and evaluating professional staff and managing and collaborating with freelance professionals and vendors, including printers, photographers, designers, etc. Experience applying judgment, leadership and decision-making skills to collaborate with executive leadership and guide individuals and committees in collective planning, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience evaluating client/customer research, market conditions and statistical data to forecast campaign outcome. Experience applying customer relations, interpersonal communication and quality service techniques to maintain constituent and stakeholder relationships. Familiarity with the academic, performing arts industry, media, philanthropic and public aspects within Mondavi Center or similar work environment. Experience instructing, training, and serving as a resource to others. Experience with Tessitura CRM platform.
