The George Mason University Student Centers seeks applications for the Event Services Supervisor position. This position will work on the Fairfax Campus and report to the Associate Director for Events Services & Operations, Student Centers.
Oversees the scheduling, coordination and billing unit within Event Services Area;
Responsible for providing primary contact, advisement and communication with event clients regarding events;
Ensures all logistical information is gathered and entered properly and timely into university scheduling system and other Event Services' systems;
Ensures proper coordination of information between client and Student Center Event support services, and oversees billing of services and client follow-up/feedback;
Provides direct supervision to 1 full time employee (Event Services Coordinator) plus wage and student wage staff.
High school diploma/GED is required.
Detailed working knowledge and experience in all aspects of event support, planning, coordination and scheduling including staffing and resource requirements; * Knowledge of all aspects of event operations including event support technology, customer service and furnishings;
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and billing software;
Working knowledge of event scheduling software (25Live, social tables, filemaker software a plus);
Ability to recruit, train and supervise full-time, part-time and student wage staff;
Exercise effective and independent professional judgment;
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, staff and contractors;
Relate successfully in one-on-one and group situations with persons representing diverse backgrounds and interests;
Possess an understanding of the cultural, social and educational needs of students.
This position requires a background check.
A degree in higher education administration, student personnel, or a related field with demonstrated experience in student union operations/student activities, event services or related fields.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience, but will not exceed $52,800
