The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is seeking an experienced professional to assume the role of Student Services Manager. Situated in the department of Academic Advisement & Academic Services, within the Division of Student Affairs, this position will provide leadership to four full time staff providing advisement to graduate students enrolled in the School for Communication and Journalism.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and interest in academic advisement and student programming.Â An interest in communication, journalism, public relations or public diplomacy would be helpful, but a background in those fields is not necessary.
The Student Services Manager will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and duties may include:
Provide academic advising for graduate students, specifically degree requirements, curriculum, course selection and degree related opportunities
Work closely with colleagues in Annenbergâs Career Development office to support career programming for graduate students
Supervise four full time academic advisors focused on working closely with graduate students
Develop and maintain relationships with departmental faculty and administration as well as cross campus partners
Coordinate departmental data retrieval and analysis regarding graduate and undergraduate students to assist in retention, graduation and diversity efforts
Represent programs at new student related events
Maintain professional knowledge with a focus on encouraging student development through participation in on and off campus associations, committees, workshops and other means of networking
Other duties as assigned or requested; the university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
7-10 years of academic advisement experience
Masterâs Degree in student personnel administration, education, counseling or related field
Demonstrated experience, and commitment to work with international students
Administrative experience with graduate or undergraduate populations in a university environment and knowledge of university policies and procedures.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $74,000.
