The Pacific Council on International Policy seeks to hire a seasoned global affairs practitioner to serve as the hub for all of our development/funding-raising efforts and administer the Pacific Council's initiatives department and communication efforts.
The Vice President directs efforts of the new business development and communications departments to build the Councilâs reputation as a thought leader and further position the organization to achieve measurable impact on global discourse and policy. S/he will bring a strong commandâ¨ of Impact initiatives & content generation, development, communications strategy, fundraising best practices, fundraising tools, and enthusiasm for raising resources. S/he will be responsible for developing and overseeing strategy and execution for initiatives (new business development), organization communications and branding, and fundraising to cover a $5 million annual budget. In conjunction with the President & CEO and the Executive Director, this position acts as a representative and ambassador to promote positive relationships and strong partnerships for the benefit of the organization. S/he will be strategic, highly organized, and results- oriented. S/he will excel at building relationships with Board members and top individual donors and in managing an ambitious new business development team.

Development & New Business
Identify and lead new business opportunities. Identify ways to maximize revenue.
Develops goals and metrics, evaluates current and future programs working closely with the Initiatives Advisory Committee.
Participate in and nurture broad networks of alliances; ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization.
Harness initiatives to stimulate internal member and external community engagement with the Councilâs work.
Oversee donor relations and prospect management systems for major individual prospects, foundations, and corporations.
Develop and present formal fundraising proposals to major donors and prospects. Advise CEO and Executive Director on cultivation strategies and new fundraising programs in corporate, planned giving, and major gifts.
In partnership with the Chief Initiatives Officer, manage the Development Committee of the board of directors, including developing fundraising goals, policies, short and long-term strategies, and new potential revenue sources.
Provide creative and visionary leadership in order to bolster the initiatives and development team to design and implement strategies while playing a hands-on role in cultivating and securing resources.
Lead and manage the performance and cohesion of a robust team.
Oversee external and internal communication efforts for the organization.
Increase strategic visibility for the organization. Ensure all external communications are consistent with the organizationâs brand and strategic plan; ensure all external communications have a development component.
In partnership with the CCO, develop workflows and oversee the production and quality of all Pacific Council print and electronic products, including reports, papers, op-eds, marketing collateral materials, website content, video, blog news posts, and commentary. Serve as lead strategist and editor for all products.
Organizational Management & Internal Affairs
Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs, mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization.
Pursue projects that improve internal communications, project planning, decision-making, operational efficiency, long-term planning, and organizational alignment.
Manage org-wide staff development. Supervise, manage, and coach department staff; guide/monitor staff work plans and professional development plans.
Cultivate philanthropic and entrepreneurial skillsets and mindset within the departments and within the organization.
Executive Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement organization-wide strategies for growth, sustainability, staff development, and member and director engagement together with Executive Team.
Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to advance Pacific Councilâs brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and activities; and position the Council publicly as an impact-focused organization and thought leader in international policy.
In partnership with the Executive Team, build a vision for the organization and be an ambassador of this vision to external and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
Demonstrated capacity to develop initiatives, activities, and novel content
Ability to recognize and strategize rapidly on mission-aligned opportunities
Demonstrated expertise in the field of international affairs including capacity to simultaneously work multiple, disparate issue areas
8+ years fundraising experience, preferably in grant writing, major gifts and/or institutional relations, with campaign experience â¨
Ability to initiate and build relationships with philanthropic leaders, next generation donors, and through other fundraising streams
Robust rolodex and proven capacity to work 1:1 with community leadersâ¨
Experience managing staff, budgets, and fundraising plans/timelines â¨
Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
Masterâs or other graduate level degree
Relevant senior-level role in the nonprofit, public, or philanthropic sector or relevant program/project management experience in the private sector
Strong project, time, and people management skills and commitment to working cross-functionally and collaboratively
Demonstrated ability to implement change that maximizes outcomes
Strong network in philanthropy, global policy and the nonprofit sector
Fundraising, grant writing/management experience
Flexible working style; sense of humor; strong interpersonal skills; calm and resourceful; able to work under pressure
The salary range for this position is: $95,000 - $130,000.
