The USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center seeks an enthusiastic candidate for a full-time transmedia specialist position. The successful candidate will have substantial experience with online audience engagement, social media and/or transmedia, event planning, and video production and editing. The Program Specialist will oversee partnerships with online and emerging media formats for the Lear Center's Hollywood Health & Society (HH&S) program. HH&S provides entertainment industry professionals with accurate and timely information for health and climate change storylines. The program recognizes the profound impact entertainment have on individual knowledge, attitudes and behavior. Candidates who demonstrate a strong background in online media, social media, marketing and branding, entertainment and popular culture are preferred. Knowledge of and/or experience in graphic design, website design and public health or social impact would be an asset.
This position is located in Beverly Hills, CA. This is a full-time, grant-funded position.
Explores opportunities for network, private industry and public health partnerships, with emphasis on new and emerging media assets to conventional entertainment formats, social media and online programming.
Keeps current on emerging media technologies and their use by health and entertainment partners.
Helps create original content (short videos and graphics for online distribution) with simple video recording and editing tools, computer graphics and animation.
Develops relationships with new and emerging media contacts, inputting and maintaining these contacts in the Hollywood, Health & Society database. Assists with event production, industry outreach and show consultations.
Manages special projects and serves as a key resource for project information, interfacing with faculty, staff, fellows and external contacts.
Performs ad-hoc research and produces summaries and reports.
Provides a professional service such as counseling, testing and evaluation, teaching or event planning in support of a university program. Assists program management with administrative functions covering planning, budgeting, proposal development, and marketing of program services.
Tests and evaluates the effectiveness of existing program content and services. Recommends and implements modifications as necessary to ensure achievement of program goals and objectives.
Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to staff, student workers, volunteers, and/or graduate assistants. Leads others in the planning and delivery of services, activities and special events. Develops and conducts program focused training and assesses proficiency or readiness ofÂ trainees.
Interfaces with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information exchange regarding program services or content.
Researches the market and develops marketing strategies to promote program. Creates information materials and plans activities and events to support marketing strategies.

Minimum Education: Bachelorâs Degree
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in program
specialization, e.g., social media, transmedia and online audience engagement. Video production & editing skills desirable.

Preferred Experience: 3 years
Preferred Field of Expertise: 3 yearsâ experience in online audience engagement, transmedia
and/or social media. Video production & editing skills and familiarity with public health/social impact issues desirable.
The salary range for this position is: $29.74 - $31.53 per hour.
