To increase alumni engagement through personal contact, establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, and nationally.
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in event planning, volunteer management, or fundraising; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; a strong commitment to higher education; ability to travel extensively and attend alumni functions during and after normal business hours; deep personal integrity and strong work ethic are required.
Master's degree or demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships, including gift solicitation; experience working with volunteers and a proven track record of collaboration in a team environment; ability to develop relationships with high net worth individuals in a broad range of professions; An understanding of major gifts and campaigns are preferred.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
30% – Identify, cultivate, and recruit alumni volunteers for targeted geographic and affinity based networks and societies. This position will develop, nurture, and manage alumni networks and societies and ensure they provide programming that is in line with the Alumni Association, Foundation, and University strategic goals.
25% – Manage fundraising and donor events such as the annual golf outing and scholarship brunch, in addition to managing the Alumni Association's fundraising initiatives such as Alumni Grove, brick program, reunions, and the network and society scholarships.
25% – Solicit leadership annual gifts from an active portfolio of select donors and prospects. Responsibilities include development of strategy, preparation of proposals and materials, solicitation, closing and stewardship, including written documentation for accurate gift recording and use, acknowledgements, reporting, and stewardship.
15% – Assist with event planning, facilitation, and coordination. Assist the networks, societies, reunions, and Association with events to engage a broad alumni population.
5% – Other duties as assigned.
This position supervises dozens of alumni volunteers and one (or more) student employees.
This position will manage individual budgets for networks, societies, reunions, certain events, and Association fundraising initiatives.
