FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Marxe School is a multi-disciplinary community of scholars dedicated to teaching and research in policy and administration in domestic and international affairs as well as in higher education administration; our three graduate degree programs are the Master of Public Administration, the Master of International Affairs, and the Master of Science in Higher Education Administration. We also have a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs. We are open to applications from a wide range of disciplines corresponding to those interests, including but not limited to Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, History, Sociology, Communication Studies, Economics, International Affairs, Higher Education Administration, and Demography.
The Marxe School of Public and International Affairs seeks an Associate or Full Professor to assume the directorship of the School's survey research center, Baruch College Survey Research (BCSR). The successful candidate will teach courses and conduct academic research consistent with the appointment. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
We expect the successful candidate to begin his or her appointment in the Fall term of 2020.
Ph.D. degree in a field listed above. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
The Marxe School seeks someone who has had experience involving a survey research operation with a Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) lab, web-based surveys, focus groups, and other methods for gathering data on public opinion about policy-relevant issues. Most of BCSR's revenue is derived from contracts with clients from academia (including but not limited to Baruch College itself), government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other institutional partners, making experience in professional management of survey staff and oversight of grants and contracts a must. Experience with media organizations is desirable.

*Pursuant to the New York City Health Benefits Summary Program Description, all City of New York employees, and employees of Participating Employers, hired on or after July 1, 2019, will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan, and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first 365 days of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365 day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
