Position Summary: The Senior Instructional Technologist partners with and supports faculty at all stages of their careers, furthering excellence and innovation in teaching and learning at YU. This position helps faculty achieve best practices in instructional design and use of academic technology, including the Canvas learning management system. Works with the Director to plan and conduct faculty workshops and events, face to face and online. Participates in committee work to further the goals of teaching excellence at YU.
Although temporary, this is a professional position with a lot of responsibility, as well as a lot of visibility and interaction with the YU community. It allows for the right person to grow their experience in a vibrant and developing teaching and learning center and to build connections with a great community of educators and students.
Promote innovation and excellence in teaching and learning at YU
Provide pedagogical assistance and instructional design services to faculty to enhance student learning and support faculty development, using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous tools phone, video conferencing, face to face, and online trainings in Canvas
Do online research on best teaching practices and models for various schools and disciplines and for the university overall
Create and run face-to-face and online training and resources that promote these innovative and engaging teaching practices
Proactively find answers to faculty questions on their use of instructional technology tools like the Canvas learning management system
Guide faculty in use of other online tools and software, such as Turnitin, ProctorU, Kaltura, and Panopto
Collaborate with the library to help run a workshop for faculty on using Open Educational Resources (OER)
Help faculty create video content for their courses and use Canvas to offer it to students
Manage the collection of online course evaluations from students and the dissemination of results to deans, chairs, and chairs
Maintain info on all online tools and the support models they provide, with contact info for their help desk
Serve on committee that helps review and select software and classroom technology tools for the university
Work with the university's Communications and Public Affairs group in keeping the Center's website up-to-date
Partner with the Director of Grant Administration to identify external funding opportunities to support teaching and learning at the University
Help develop and promote policies, processes, and a campus culture that values the importance of teaching excellence and student learning

Experience & Educational Background:
M.A. or higher in instructional design or related field
Experience working in higher education
Skills & Competencies:
Proven administrative and organizational skills
Knowledge of the literature on teaching and learning to improve learning outcomes and the changing trends in higher education
The willingness to work hard to accomplish meaningful results
