Work under the general direction of faculty or other management to develop, implement, and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the assigned academic entity/program(s). As a member of the Leadership team for the Design for Extreme Affordability program, manage the operations of the Extreme Design Lab including the following areas: entity/program strategy development, long-range planning, and project development.
Develop and manage research programs by conducting research activities, including outreach to varied stakeholders within the program, assigning resources and making program improvement recommendations that impact policies and programs.
Organize and execute Extreme Design Lab team recruitment and application process
Coordination of players
Support and maintain the strong Extreme culture
Coordination of the Extreme Design Lab management team and students, including frequent interfacing with leadership members, running lab management meetings, maintaining close contact with students
Coordination of partners as projects are implemented
Coordination and cultivation of interdisciplinary relationships: d.school, School of Engineering, Medical School, GSB (CSI, CES, IT, Facilities, Communications, Donor Relations).
Coordination and cultivation of guest speakers and experts
Manage the physical assets and space of the students at the GSB
Locating experts and materials for specific projects
Cataloging select teachable moments from teams
Providing relevant media and details for coaching
Source, collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
Project Monitoring and Outcomes Evaluation
Manage project database; track and update impact results
Leverage and develop alumni relationships
Provide support, to ensure safety and productivity, for Extreme Design Lab student team travel
Student team expenditure management
Teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of courses. Develop curriculum. Develop curriculum-rating survey, detailed feedback on courses and make recommendations for preliminary overview and changes.
Design and execute programmatic modules, including design reviews and feedback sessions, community building, design thinking, business planning, manufacturability, etc.
Special projects, as they come up.
As time allows, support the Design for Extreme Affordability course and Social E Lab, especially during high traffic times.
Develop or contribute to outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships, and fundraising/funding.
Public Relations / Media
Catalog lab activities for internal and external media use.
Help to maintain the Extreme website, including details on team projects and other relevant updates.
Assist and sometimes lead external relations with media and funders.
Contribute to and inform on strategic program/entity planning and related funding and financial sustainability.
Assist with the finances and budgeting process for the entire Design for Extreme Affordability Program
Identify, recommend and implement opportunities for new research.
Set up and run the Extreme Design Lab coaching program, including recruitment and training of coaches.
Gather and share feedback on project work (from experts and teaching team) with teams and partners.
Coach teams throughout the Extreme Design Lab program, through one on one meetings.
Track team progress
Coach and mentor program staff.
Write and/or edit complex content for proposals, research grants, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities.
Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.
Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
Ability to oversee and direct staff.
Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.
