COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR , School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) , to develop and implement--with SA+P's director of communications--effective communications strategies. Will gather information from faculty/students/alumni/staff to highlight on SA+P platforms; synthesize and summarize a broad spectrum of news and research; write, edit, and produce communications and promotional materials; develop and coordinate content for SA+P's digital properties and Institute outlets; design digital assets for social media, web, and on-campus display; collaborate with communications' staff to ensure that online strategies complement and enhance the school's mission; work with Dean's Office staff to support resource development and alumni relations communications; provide individual consultation to faculty/staff/students; assist with planning, organizing, and implementing special projects and events; conduct analysis, benchmarking, and reporting; and perform other duties as requested.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; three years' experience in a communications role; experience writing, researching, and conducting interviews for communications ranging from press releases and magazine stories to blog posts and social media; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; proficiency with modern publishing and web-based communication methods/tools; experience managing a website using a content management system; experience managing social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube); and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop. Must be able to manage and meet multiple deadlines; work collaboratively and independently; copyedit for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone; and translate complex concepts/projects into clear, compelling materials suitable for a general audience. PREFERRED : background/education in architecture, urban planning, the arts, or design; experience within a college/university setting; experience with design, photography, and/or video/television production; experience organizing and managing events; and MIT experience.
