Provides informal supervision to employees responsible for guarding site premises and property. On a routine basis, inspects grounds to ensure security requirements are met. Controls and monitors access to building. May be required to enforce parking regulations and report fire and safety hazards. Reports atypical situations to management. May use electronic surveillance equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes positive public relations by offering courteous service to all tenants, visitors, and guests, and responding to their requests.
Coordinates overall security at site. Ensures all security staff comply with company directives. Performs security scheduling functions.
Maintains proficiency with building's life safety system and central security panel and trains security staff and Shift Leader with respect to life safety systems and emergency response procedures.
Provides leadership for emergency response at the property or site.
Monitors adequate coverage of the property posts. Monitors building operations and tours properties; reports and records security related incidents occurring on the property, and maintains daily activity and incident logs.
Controls access to buildings and monitors activities of visitors.
Communicates daily with the Property Manager regarding events, incidents, recommendations, staffing needs, etc.
Communicates with client representative about any security issues that arise.
Ensures staff completes state registration requirements within 10 days of hire. Conducts follow-up and documents status of card every 30 days until received.
Maintains daily logs and shift reports. Reviews reports and monitors performance.
Develops site-specific policies and procedures for the security and life safety manual.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
1+ year(s) security experience. Prior experience as a Shift Leader preferred.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Meets local or national security staff certification requirements
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate knowledge of Word Processing software; Excel spreadsheet software and Internet software. Ability to walk/stand 8 hours per day, operate an fire extinguisher, lift 50 pounds, and effectively transport an adult in an evacuation chair or similar transportation equipment.
