The goal of the LIU Pharmacy – MKG Lasdon Research Fellowship program is to provide Doctors of Pharmacy with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to enter and succeed in the fields of drug information and medical communications. Through this program, the Fellow will gain expertise in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic company. The Fellow will work closely with experienced professionals to leverage his/her clinical training to develop a broad range of promotional materials. While developing skills in the many facets of medical communications industry, the Fellow will also develop and enhance his/her skills in accessing, analyzing, and responding to a wide range of drug information queries, and will also develop his/her teaching skills.
While at MKG (total of 8 months), the fellow will:
Work alongside highly experienced medical and scientific professionals to strengthen their writing skills by developing presentations for professional speaker engagements, video scripts, educational workbooks, and executive summaries of key events
Be more than an observer. Fellows interface directly with clients in order to develop materials that meet their clinical and strategic objectives
Showcase their input by attending project meetings and helping facilitate projects
While at LIU Pharmacy (total of 4 months), the fellow will:
Function as part of a team of specialists at the IDIC to respond to drug information questions
Deliver didactic lectures, facilitate recitations,and precept students enrolled in an advanced pharmacy practice experience
Work alongside LIU Pharmacy’s Continuing Professional Education Department to develop and present professional programs
Partake in a longitudinal scholarly project and have the ability to complete a teaching certificate program
This is a 1-year program that will be available July 1, 2020. The Fellow will be an employee of LIU Pharmacy.
REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Pharmacy degree; a record of outstanding educational and professional achievements; exceptional interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Salary Information: Salary and benefits provided through LIU-Pharmacy. In addition to the base salary, a travel stipend is provided for approved travel.
