The Goldman School of Public Policy is a graduate school that prepares students for careers in public leadership.
The majority of the students at GSPP are enrolled in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, which emphasizes the applied and quantitative dimensions of policy making. The MPP may also be earned concurrently with degrees from several other UC Berkeley schools: law, public health, engineering, social welfare, international and area studies and the Energy Resources Group. GSPP also offers a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program which focuses on policy management and leadership as well as a doctoral program for students interested in policy research. While the Goldman School does not offer a bachelors-level degree, the public policy minor is available to undergraduates enrolled at UC Berkeley.
Goldman School faculty represent the top researchers in their respective fields, which include economics, political science, law, social psychology and engineering. Their expertise ranges from education policy to racial profiling to clean energy. As teachers, they are dedicated to training tomorrow's policy leaders. Within an academic department/school/college provides, and makes recommendations for the improvement of the following programs:
Recruitment and Admissions:
Plans and implements outreach programs with specifically targeted institutions; advises prospective applicants on necessary academic preparation; appropriateness of program as it pertains to the prospective applicant's goals; utilizing in-depth knowledge of the organization's admissions criteria, arranges student recruitment visits to Berkeley and attends recruitment events, workshops, and conferences.
Supports all aspects of admissions and recruitment efforts.
Develops a robust outreach and recruitment plan for the School's graduate programs that focuses on increasing the number of prospective students from all backgrounds.
Leads and supports the School's nationwide efforts to develop and maintain outreach and recruitment partnerships.
Identifies and creates admissions recruitment pipeline partnerships with K-16 constituents, including partnerships with nationwide universities, colleges and organizations to yield a diverse applicant pool.
With IT and Admissions team, develops an online tracking system for prospective applicants and provides personalized follow-up to all applicants to increase the School's applicant pool.
Supports new diversity ambassadors program and engages Goldman faculty, staff, alumni, and students to support diversity outreach, recruitment, and retention efforts.
Supports, plans, and organizes admissions outreach and recruitment events, webinars, social media outreach, conferences, new admit days, and other initiatives that support diversity recruitment.
Supports the School's Admissions team to meet overall student and diversity yield goals. Provides support and participates in GSPP's yield activities including the planning and implementation of GSPP's New Admit Days and other recruitment events.
Represents GSPP at recruitment events, conferences, graduate fairs, webinars, and workshops on campus & nationwide to recruit a diverse applicant pool.
Academic Advising, Counseling, and PPIA Program Planning:
Advises faculty on departmental/school/college and university policies and procedures; reviews students' progress and advises students and faculty on requirements for degree/program completion; identifies students with progression problems and recommends interventions; devises curriculum planning in collaboration with chair/dean and faculty, and with other departments. Specifically, the ADSS will focus on advising, counseling and supporting students who are enrolled or completed the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program, as well as assists with other GSPP programs.
Provides advising, counseling, and support to underrepresented groups and first-generation students to promote an inclusive and supportive environment, including students who are enrolled or completed the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program, as well as assists with other GSPP programs.
Provides advising to PPIA Program students and alumni as well as public policy minor undergraduate students, including responding to emails about academic requirements, procedures, and exceptions, and meet with minors who need academic guidance.
Implements academic programs to enhance academic success, including the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program, as well as assists with other GSPP programs.
For the PPIA Program, assists in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and hiring faculty, instructors and provides them with administrative and organizational support.
Plans PPIA Program summer course schedule, orientation, and events (courses, alumni dinner, graduate school fair, graduation, etc.)
Works with students and instructors to monitor and assess academic progress of students and recommend academic support.
Processes stipends, requisitions, and reimbursements.
Develops and prepares specialized reports as requested by internal and external constituents.
Coordinates with campus units (Disbursements, Student Accounting, Housing & Dining Services, Cal ID office, library, etc.) to ensure PPIA program students' needs are addressed.
Oversees the administration, evaluation, and awarding of student fellowships, grants, scholarships, and other awards; advises students on financial aid options on campus and extra-mural fellowship opportunities.
Participates in the processing, evaluation, and awarding of student fellowships, grants, and other awards; advises students on financial aid options for all key programs.
Advises on fellowship, research, and summer internship programs; develops and maintains network of professional contacts, universities, & organizations interested in hiring GSPP students.
Devises curriculum planning in collaboration with chair/dean and faculty, and with other departments, to ensure students' progress through course sequences, avoiding conflicts, and ensuring compliance with campus-wide policies.
Serves as the key point of contact on course scheduling for the Goldman School of Public Policy.
Provides assistance with all aspects of course scheduling and supports curriculum planning to ensure students' progress through course sequences, avoiding conflicts, and ensuring compliance with campus-wide policies.
Collaborates with main scheduling office and cross-schedulers in other departments for room assignments.
Serves as the GSPP liaison to the Academic Senate & DeCal Office for faculty & staff; inform staff of course faculty needs for academic student appointments.
Serves as the point person on the administrative management and publication of academic scheduling information.
Plans and implements complex, high-visibility student events, such as admissions recruitment events, as well as other student events and workshops.
Supports the implementation of student, staff, faculty, and alumni participation in MPP and PPIA admissions and recruitment efforts (admissions information sessions, webinars, graduate affairs, etc).
Leads and supports the programming and implementation of student events, workshops, and activities (e.g., annual Fall Feast, new student orientation, workshops, job fairs, and other events).
Other duties as assigned.
Some evening and weekend work is required. Occasional travel may be required. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of education and experience/training. Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $50,400.00 - $72,800.00.
