The Assistant Director of Content Strategy will lead and supervise the content team of writer and editors to produce content for magazines, our online newsroom, advertising, web pages and other types of communications for both internal and external audiences. Key audiences include students, faculty, alumni, parents, community members, donors, and peers throughout higher education.
The Assistant Director of Content Strategy will be responsible for overseeing the processes for cultivating, prioritizing and assigning content in connection with Chapman’s brand guidelines, messaging framework and Strategic Plan.
This position collaborates closely with the Director of Marketing and the Director of Public Relations to create content calendars and campaigns designed to reach our target audiences, as well as media strategies and pitches to reach a national audience and promote brand recognition of Chapman University. T
he position places high priority on maximizing unified messaging with the goal of national awareness for Chapman University. The Ideal candidate is process-oriented, highly-organized, and experienced with long-range planning.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
At least five years of experience as a content creator and or related field (i.e., agency, firm engaged in innovative marketing techniques, higher education).
Understanding of various publishing and distribution platforms and channels (i.e., email marketing, social media, magazine publishing, video, etc.)
Experienced team leader with demonstrated supervisory skills.
Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy and work with confidential information.
Must be able to multitask and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to lead individuals and provide feedback to team members.
Strategic thinking with the ability to make recommendations based on understanding of synthesized analytics.
Strong communications skills to proof read and write grammatically correct content for publishing.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with diversity individuals at all levels both within and out of the University.
Ability to learn and interpret university and department policies and procedures.
MA degree preferred.
Knowledge of higher education.
