The Digital Media Content Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing and supports the mission of WKU by creating and managing social media content focusing primarily on student recruitment and constituent engagement. In addition to social media content, this individual will also assist with the development and deployment of content for the website and other digital platforms.
In this service-oriented role, the successful candidate will follow user activity, interpret user feedback and actions, and respond accordingly.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Curates, writes, and distributes content for multiple social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Maintains a cohesive social media strategy that strengthens the brand and increases awareness and engagement
Facilitates social media conversations with current and prospective students, builds relationships, and addresses concerns among constituents
Aligns content with the university's messaging calendar and develops content that supports strategic priorities
Works closely with student social media ambassadors to gather content representative of the student perspective
Creates and analyzes the success of paid content promotion on social media platforms to reach targeted audiences
Facilitates and manages conversations between WKU and multiple constituencies across social platforms
Monitors social media channels and provides data-driven insights on the university's digital outreach using multiple assessment tools
Deploys messaging deemed urgent across multiple channels in collaboration with the leadership of the Division of Communication and Marketing
Researches social trends and continually looks for ways to use new information/insights to advance institutional priorities
Develops and maintains web content in support of institutional priorities
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
Experience developing and maintaining social, web, and/or digital aesthetic consistency
Familiarity with social media management tools and platforms
Ability to manage multiple projects, self-motivate, and prioritize work
Basic to intermediate understanding of relationship management and institutional relations
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, or related field/area
Experience with social media page management
Experience writing for the web and developing digital content
Experience engaging with individuals in an online environment
Excellent writing and proofreading skills
Salary Grade: 107 Salary: $15.79/hr
