We are inviting applications for a paid position as a Public Relations intern. This is an excellent learning opportunity if you are seeking a future career in corporate communications, publicity, and public relations.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Writing: drafting web stories, news releases, media advisories, social media posts, pitches, internal communications, etc.
Researching: lead in the research of a variety of areas to include media outlets, reporters, current events, competitors, etc.
Generating media lists: research specific journalists and media outlets. This responsibility will also include use of targeting software to build/update media lists and to develop tailored pitches and pitching profiles.
News tracking: monitoring Tepper School news coverage and creating reports for wide distribution to include faculty, staff, alumni, etc.
Covering events: attending presentations, lectures, competitions or special events and sharing on social media.
Pitching media: drafting media pitches and working with the media relations team to identify and pitch press.
General activities: assist the website team, internal outlets, social media, and collateral to support strategic priorities.
Currently enrolled in college and studying communications, journalism or public relations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Multimedia skills preferred; proficient in the use of social media, Photoshop and MS Office applications.
Positive attitude and ability to work well with others and as a member of a team.
This is a part-time, fixed term position.
Applications including 3-5 writing samples (story, news release, etc) and up to three video or social-media samples will be given top consideration.
Standard hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday- Friday. However, you may be required to assist with events that are outside these hours to include evening and weekends.
