Position Summary: The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) seeks a Coordinator of Promotion and Communications to increase the Program's visibility among its stakeholders through the development and distribution of information and materials.
UCDC stakeholders include undergraduate students enrolled at the nine University of California (UC) campuses, the campus internship and experiential education officers ('campus coordinators'), UC faculty, UCDC program and campus alumni, and DC experts and practitioners.
The Coordinator will report directly to the Associate Academic Director. The Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with Program staff (about 20) to create, coordinate, and distribute promotional and other communications materials through traditional and social media platforms; and, will interact with students in the development of some materials, such as promotional videos.
The Coordinator will assist in the Program's transition to a new website and the integration of multiple Program platforms. This will include working with outside vendors to troubleshoot technological and other difficulties. The Coordinator will provide creative and practical ideas for new and innovative approaches to print and digital communication.
UCDC is a consolidated program of nine University of California campuses. The Program is a residential, instructional, and research center that provides UC students and faculty with opportunities to study, conduct research, work, and live within Washington's rich cultural, political, and international environment. The Program is housed in an 11-story building that includes offices, classrooms, and living space for more than 270 students in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Contribute strategies to promote UCDC to a wide audience including prospective students, faculty, and administrators throughout the University of California system, Washington D.C.'s professional and alumni community;
Strengthen UCDC's brand and promote UCDC activities and accomplishments of students, alumni and faculty;
Coordinate, design, and help draft the Program's promotional efforts including newsletters, brochures, emails, web, video and social media;
Work with campus coordinators to develop recruitment strategies and tools, and share and consolidate brand information;
Provide resource and subject matter expertise to UCDC staff in matters involving communications and promotion;
Assist in writing, editing, and publishing social media postings (on Linkedln, Twitter, Facebook, and others) to promote the Program and engage stakeholders;
Analyze similar academic internship programs to determine and recommend best practices;
Monitor and contribute to social media of participating UC campuses and other stakeholders;
Take photos and create videos for website and social media;
Work with Washington Program staff to create content by gathering information from a variety of sources;
Work with outside vendors to troubleshoot and obtain information on current products and practices;
Other tasks as may be assigned.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or similar field.
At least, three - five years' experience in promotion, marketing communications, web development, or related field.
Proficiency in working with Drupal, HTML code, browsers, and graphics applications.
Strong marketing and project management skills.
Strong knowledge in all major social media platforms.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Demonstrated maturity and professionalization, and particularly able responsibly handle confidential information.
Demonstrated attention to detail and organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work with a deadline, yet be flexible.
Enthusiastic, creative and flexible team player who thinks outside the box and enjoys challenges.
Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and SharePoint). Required
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro) and other graphic design software.
Proficiency in photography and video editing. Preferred
