The Media, Journalism and Public Relations department at Biola University seeks a tenure-track assistant/associate professor in public relations for our undergraduate public relations programs to join a growing, nationally recognized program that emphasizes experiential learning, digital media expertise and rigorous professional preparation. The public relations program has grown rapidly over the five years since its launch and now provides a traditional, B.A. degree with six concentration options for students, an online B.S. degree, an online M.A. degree, an award-winning student Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, a student-run firm, and an honors society.
The ideal candidate for this position will teach courses primarily in the undergraduate programs, for the traditional B.A. and the online B.S. degrees. Classes may include social media, paid digital management, internship, and advanced advertising management. The applicant should be willing to develop and maintain contacts with public relations professionals sufficient to support student work in community engagement, internships, and independent projects. Additional areas of responsibility may include serving as an academic adviser for a student group.
An ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment with creative colleagues, have successful prior experience teaching in an online environment, enjoy mentoring and developing students, and be an individual who consistently seeks to integrate the latest standards and practices into the classroom. This is a department where we seek to develop new ideas, expand the impact of our students’ education, and where we champion our students towards successful practice in and outside of our classes.
