The Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) is a university-wide institute that collaborates with university and external partners to develop the knowledge that will generate better outcomes for the health of the world's population. HGHI has an immediate opening for a Senior Engagement and Multimedia Coordinator on our communications and engagement team.
Reporting to and working closely with HGHI's Director of Content and Strategy, the Senior Engagement and Multimedia Coordinator will work across programmatic and research portfolios at HGHI to increase the visibility of global health work across Harvard and maximize the reach of and engagement with diverse audiences around the world.
Drawing from all HGHI programs and initiatives, such as our work on Climate Change and Health, Artificial Intelligence in Health, or Health Systems and Quality of Care, the Senior Engagement and Multimedia Coordinator will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team how to consistently deliver creative, engaging content on some of the most pressing issues of our time.
The ideal candidate is a well-organized and collaborative self-starter who is passionate about storytelling and translating complex topics into accessible narratives in multiple formats (writing, video, audio, interactives, events and others). The incumbent will have fluency in some but not all of these formats, as well as the willingness to learn new tools, innovate, explore, and grow with the changing information needs of communities.
This is a job for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, who wants to understand how digital media is created and how people interact with it through various channels, how social technologies accelerate its spread, and who is excited about joining our efforts to enrich emerging conversations online and offline with evidence and insights from HGHI's and Harvard's broad knowledge base.
Specifically, the Senior Engagement and Multimedia Coordinator will execute a broad set of activities including:
Project coordinate the planning, creation, and distribution of HGHI content
Maintain and update website content, in collaboration with relevant team members, including timely updates of existing content and generation of new content. Specifically, coordinate pre-production, planning, logistics, drafting/capturing, editing and posting (including uploads, captioning, cover images, titles, descriptions, trafficking etc.)
Create and manage an editorial calendar
Research and write original stories for web
Create and edit multimedia content (video shorts, photos, social media animations, social media/Instagram 'stories' etc.)
Manage a variety of third-party multimedia platforms (such as Twitter and Facebook); curate and update multimedia features on various web properties and channels
Drive social media engagement and create campaigns around specific topics and events
Collect and interpret performance metrics to enhance future work. Conceive/research new opportunities, technology, and formats to reach new audiences
Compose HGHI's weekly newsletter
Lead digital asset management efforts, including cataloging and tagging of videos, original photos, published works, stock photos, etc.
Facilitate campaigns to gather, edit, and publish student-generated multimedia content
Coordinate announcements and publications among multiple project partners, initiate drafts and team feedback, meeting the publication deadlines
Coordinate the production of printed materials from conception to finished products

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of related communications experience
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field preferred
Experience with copy-writing, proof-reading, website management and design, social media management, basic photo and video editing skills
Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to develop and meet deadlines.
Must be aware of and willing to learn about new developments in digital technology
Ability to work well with cross functional teams across a complex, and changing organization
Experience with Design Software (e.g. InDesign), Video editing (e.g. iMovie, Final Cut, Adobe Premier), Adobe Suite, Social Media Management Tools (such as Buffer or Hootsuite) and WordPress strongly preferred.
