Otsuka is seeking a savvy Public Relations and External Communications Expert who can deliver positive outcomes on corporate and brand initiatives, strengthen media coverage, think strategically, and present ideas clearly and capably to senior leadership.
Our PR and Media Relations professionals work collaboratively with executives, business stakeholders, alliances, the media and key influencers to increase Otsuka brand awareness, differentiate our company, products, and pipeline in the industry, position our executives as thought leaders and protect our corporate image and reputation.
Serve as a liaison with our agencies, affiliates and regional sister companies to coordinate, organize, and implement numerous projects and programs.
Increase brand and product awareness while establishing fundamental partnerships with the media on behalf of Corporate Communications Team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment, a must.
Establish solid relationships with journalists.
Seek high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Create and manage a multi-faceted PR and external communications plan that aligns with corporate objectives. Coordinate activities and execute across multiple commercial brands and R&D business through product life-cycles and/or corporate narrative.
Develop key messages and supporting materials i.e. FAQs, infographics, videos, etc., with the extended Corp Comm team. Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations. Develop robust plans that integrate digital and social media components and engage audiences across traditional and new media.
Establish solid relationships with journalists. Seek high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media.
Produce reputation management plan and messaging to create neutral/positive coverage.
Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis. Demonstrate an increase in public awareness of the organization and/or products.
Build relationships with thought leaders, advocacy groups and local/national organizations as needed to grow industry awareness as well as work with cross-functional teams including internal marketing teams, executive leadership team, Legal, Compliance, HR, and more.
Liaise with PR agencies including managing relationships, work efficiency, budget, and project management.
Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting the pharmaceutical and digital industry and make appropriate recommendations regarding external communications programs.
Bachelors degree is required, advance degree preferred. Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related discipline is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Corporate Communications, Agency or Newsroom environment is required.
Proven work experience and track record for developing and executing strategic, creative public relations programs. Prefer experience in pharmaceutical, mental health and/or tech industry.
Excellent communication and presentation skills

Up to 15% travel required based upon business needs
Experience working within Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry
PR and/or Journalism background
Strong project management experience
Solid knowledge of social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.,
Strong media relations experience with both local and national business and industry media outlets
