Brand Strategist University Marketing, The Ohio State University
University Marketing is seeking a disciplined strategic marketer to fill a key role on our Marketing Strategy team. The selected candidate will act as a brand steward for The Ohio State University within University Marketing and the broader marketing community, bringing to life audience-centric strategies, marketing plans and integrated brand experiences that drive awareness, engagement and choice with key audiences.
The Brand Strategist reports to the Senior Director, Brand Strategy & Enterprise Marketing for The Ohio State University and provides strategic consultation and guides the development and implementation of strategic brand management across the enterprise, enhancing brand governance; activating supporting toolkits and processes; and helping develop peers to be brand stewards. The Brand Strategist crafts marketing strategies that enable the development of integrated plans and campaigns for the enterprise brand aligned to unit goals and objectives for select audiences, as well as for other assigned projects and partners, working in partnership with the Brand Experience team. The ideal candidate will be competent as:
A strategic thinker with experience in translating insights into sound marketing strategies that enable the development of integrated plans in support of organizational goals
A disciplined marketer with distinctive analytical skills, creativity, strategic mindset and keen business acumen
A collaborative team builder with a proven ability to actively listen and develop strong partnerships across departments
A proactive self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to progress multiple priorities/projects
The Brand Strategist supports strategic vision for bringing to life the Ohio State brand and serves as a strategic resource for the broader marketing community. In this role, this individual helps bring together ideas and individuals to advance key initiatives across the University. This individual is a disciplined marketer and brand-builder with experience in developing brand and marketing strategy, guiding brand management, and laying groundwork for integrated marketing execution, including digital marketing, utilizing excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.

Performance Objectives include, but are not limited to:
Develop and apply a deep understanding of university brand strategy and key audiences, identifying and translating audience insights and research into individual audience strategies that fuel integrated marketing plans to build brand equity
Craft marketing strategies that enable the development of integrated plans and campaigns for the enterprise brand aligned to organizational goals and objectives for select audiences and for assigned projects and partners, working in partnership with the Brand Experience team
Provide strategic consultation and assists with the development and implementation of strategic brand management across the enterprise; enhancing brand governance, streamlining brand management and partnering with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and activate supporting toolkits and processes.
Build collaborative relationships and provide strategic consultation around brand strategy and marketing with key partners and University Marketing subject matter experts, cultivating peers as brand champions across the university

The selected candidate for this position must have demonstrated success in several areas, including:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, psychology, communications or related field
Six years of experience in a brand management/marketing strategy, account planning and/or research role in an agency, company and/or consulting firm
Four years of experience developing and implementing integrated marketing strategies and plans in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
Two years of experience in a brand strategy and/or brand management positon focused on extending a master brand strategy across lines of business in a consultative nature
Experience in brand positioning, segmentation, and messaging development.
Desired Qualifications include:
Experience in relationship, client and/or account management
Experience working with and leading teams in a complex, decentralized and/or matrix organization structure
Experience in higher education marketing and knowledge of admissions, alumni relations and/or fundraising marketing is a plus
Target Salary: $68,000.00 - $91,000.00 Annually
