The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is looking for a creative and accomplished digital project management professional to lead the School through the next phase of the School's digital evolution. Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Communications Officer, the Associate Director of Digital Communications Strategy and Project Management will be the driving force behind the transformation of the School's digital presence. They will lead the organization through significant change in process in order to improve intake, digital project management, product delivery, customer service, and business outcomes as well as be the lead project manager of the upcoming website redesign.
The Associate Director of Digital Communications Strategy and Project Management will serve as the primary liaison between Communications (designers, content providers), IT (developers), and clients/business partners across the School, including development, alumni affairs, admissions, education, academic departments, and others. The Associate Director of Digital Communications Strategy and Project Management will also be instrumental in developing our digital and client relations strategies, will be responsible for informed decision-making to prioritize the full life cycle of the School's digital projects, and will work closely with clients to identify their needs, build trust and collaboration, and convey specs to web development partners in IT that are realistic, manageable, and creative. The role also requires streamlining and implementing best practices in the project management process.
Success in the role will require a deep understanding of the value of customer service, exceptional interpersonal skills, a creative problem-solving outlook, project management skills, and experience and comfort with shifting quickly from project to project while maintaining a friendly, calm demeanor. The foundation for this role will be built on the realignment and an implementation of a new vision for how Communications and IT deliver creative and efficient digital products across the School.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as the School's main point of contact for clients (across the School) looking for digital solutions
Lead clients and stakeholders through the strategic planning process to identify key branding, messaging, and communications objectives
Develop best practices related to digital strategies and projects
Guide projects along a path to efficiency, prior to IT getting involved, so that projects can be delivered in-scope and on time
Proactively address potential issues and complications by advising clients of effective and efficient strategies
As the key liaison to IT, translate client needs for the development and creative teams following best practices that they themselves develop
Develop schedules and budgets, manage regular team meetings to ensure projects are on target, and keep clients informed of progress
Manage project-specific budgets and process billing when necessary
Ensure that the user experience and deliverables are customer-centric, easy to use, and navigation works as expected
Develop best practices and serve as the primary contact for clients across the School related to digital projects
Establish and lead a governance steering committee, as well as a series of trainings and workshops to communicate the new best practices developed
The Associate Director of Digital Communications Strategy and Project Management will also work on additional duties and related projects as assigned

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
7+ years of related experience required
Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in communications, journalism, or related field preferred
Understanding of the latest trends in Online Accessibility preferred
Experience working with technical teams in complex organizations preferred
Proven track record working across various stakeholder groups preferred
Experience with project management software and tools (Jira, Microsoft Project, Excel, etc) preferred
Experience in IT Service Management preferred
Experience working amongst and meeting competing deadlines preferred
Knowledge of current and future trends in digital communications and responsive design elements preferred
Understanding of WordPress and website environments preferred
