Supporting bank's business agenda in China by building and maintaining the Bank's relations and enhancing the bank's communications with central government agencies, think tanks and other important external stakeholders
Acting as a catalyst, stimulating "trusted" relationships between the Bank and public sector stakeholders, ensuring the Bank's needs are satisfied and that views are shared with these stakeholders
supporting the Bank's engagement of government and key external influencers in China so as to promote our bank's thought leadership in government's policy-making.

covering the PA interests of the Bank, including inbound and outbound visitors of strategic importance to the Group
implementing a strategic public affairs agenda which is aligned to China's priorities, the Group Public Affairs strategy, and the Corporate Affairs Collective Agenda
The Role Responsibilities
Support Executive Director, Government and Public Affairs with research into key industry trends and their implications which are closely relevant to SCBCN's business development in alignment with Group and Country priorities.
Obtain and evaluate information about industry and market trends, competitive threats and possible business opportunities. Be aware of potential legislation that may affect any areas of the Bank's operations. Draft strategy papers and presentations.
Deliver timely and high-quality reporting and intelligence on politics and policy change to senior country management and the Bank's Public Affairs community
Identify and coordinate opportunities for senior management to act as "trusted counsel" to government and other actors on key policy issues
Leverage China's participation in key international group such as the G20 and APEC to raise the Bank's profile
Track and leverage inward and outbound political stakeholders moving between China and key markets across the Bank
Initiate cooperation for the Bank with Chinese and foreign embassies along the "Belt and Road" countries, set up an institutionalised cooperation mechanism.
Collaborate with colleagues across CA to ensure continuous collaboration and improvement in the function
Engage and discuss key business issues with Business and Function teams by providing advice from government and public policy perspective to facilitate the shape of a holistic strategic agenda of SCBCN and provide inputs to the implementation plans.
Coordinate cross functional strategic initiatives, engage and manage senior internal and external key stakeholders to achieve alignment for a shared objective.
Play a tracking and central coordination role in the implementation of strategic initiatives/projects in which multiple stakeholders are involved.
Represent the Government & Public Affairs team in senior management discussion on a regular basis.
Our Ideal Candidate
Highly motivated individuals with broad based experience in strategy consulting in the banking sector/from leading strategy consulting firms.
The ideal skill set would combine financial services knowledge with a strong banking consulting experience (preferably from a top consulting firm) and 8-10 years of working experience.
Strong collaboration/coordination skills in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multi-cultural environment.
Good business sense and business understanding, strong strategic thinking.
Strong communication skills in presenting and communicating strategic topics with senior management in English and Chinese.
Strong team orientation: works effectively in virtual international teams and shares information readily with internal stakeholders.
Proactively challenge status quo and act for changes and be able to effectively influence and engage senior leaders.
Personal qualities including professionalism, resourcefulness, teamwork, tenacity, independence, energy, self-confidence, and a desire to deliver impact, are highly valued.
Should possess key skills such as ability to handle tight deadlines and delivering under pressure, excellent communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of the latest intelligence on politics and policy changes as well as the impact of that to the Bank.
