Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development Operations is responsible for the data integrity of the Development Office’s alumni and donor database, Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, and the overall administration of gift processing and fundraising reporting. The position defines Development Office operating policies, procedures, and practices related to Raiser’s Edge and gift management. The Director works closely with the Finance and the Information Technology Offices and supervises the Database Manager and Development Operations Associate.
Responsibilities: • Oversees all aspects of the Development constituent database, Raiser’s Edge, ensuring data integrity and maintenance, in accordance with gift accounting, PCI compliance, FASB, and IRS regulations, when handling sensitive financial and gift information; complies with laws, regulations, auditing and reporting standards and requirements for gifts received by the School. • Oversees all gift processing, quality control on gifts, and campaign, funds, and appeals; ensures proper recording of gifts and pledges; drafts gift processing and record maintenance policies and procedures. • Creates and monitors work flow for data pulls from Raiser’s Edge for renewals, appeals, acquisitions, invitations, mailings and donor recognition lists. • Together with members of the Public Affairs and Box Office team, oversees Patron Manager, Juilliard’s box office ticketing database. • Creates and runs reports on an as needed and ongoing basis, working with department leadership to develop meaningful KPI’s for department performance. • Works with various Development teams (Alumni, Membership, Major Gifts, Research) to help assess operational and strategic needs, focused on areas of reporting, workflow, and technology. • Collaborates with Juilliard IT department to coordinate and assess Development Departmental technology needs on an ongoing basis. • Supervises the Database Manager and Development Operations Associate and assigns projects related to the overall maintenance of Raiser’s Edge and Patron Manager. • Helps to train Development staff on Raiser’s Edge NXT and to integrate the use of Raiser’s Edge into all fundraising activities.
• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit fundraising, with a strong operational background • Expertise in all aspects of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (Juilliard using Raisers Edge NXT) or equivalent CRM • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). • Background in gift processing, financial analysis, reporting, training and supervising staff. • Prior experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education and/or a performing arts organization. • Strong ethical sense to handle confidential and sensitive gift and donor information appropriately. • Motivated and deadline oriented with a proven track record at delivering results. • Excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization, with a strong customer service orientation. • Maturity of judgment, high level of accuracy and close attention to detail, when managing various data driven projects. • Experience with Import-Omatic, Blackbaud NetCommunity, and Patron Manager, Juilliard’s ticketing database, helpful.
