In partnership with the President, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all fundraising and development activities, including giving campaigns, an Annual PRO-AM Golf Classic, and multiple fundraising luncheons in various regions. The CDO will continue to maintain and develop future comprehensive communication plans including printed and digital collateral, video, social media, and web by providing keen oversight to all marketing, public relations, and brand standards.
The CDO will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to supplement and grow UMAR’s operating budget through the solicitation of major and planned gifts, grants, special events, support from faith-based communities and utilization of volunteers. This individual will ensure that philanthropy and fund development are carried out with the highest regard to integrity, and with the organization’s values, mission, and vision at the forefront. In this highly metrical position, the CDO will recommend both short- and long-range fund development plans to help achieve the organization’s mission.
Using strong relational skills, the successful candidate will help forge new relationships and nurture current ones to build UMAR’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. Through networking events, personal relationships, and other avenues, the CDO will continue to foster new donors who align their giving to the mission of UMAR. The CDO will assist in developing a positive internal culture of giving and support, developing current staff as ex-officio members of the development team.
The CDO will expand and diversify UMAR’s donor base and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the CDO will work closely with the board of trustees, supporting them as they take on a more active fundraising role. It is expected that the amount raised by UMAR will increase in future years as the CDO systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree a plus. Must have 5 or more years of fundraising experience.
