Responsible for developing and implementing communications programs and messages to educate and inform members, management, and employees. Content will be delivered through various media, including electronic and print publishing, marketing, video and social media. The Communications Specialist works with company leaders and experts to create internal and external communications in support of Habersham EMC’s messaging and marketing activities, developing appropriate content and distribution channels.

The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Habersham EMC.
Develops content for internal communications, including research/writing/editing, creating photography or video assets, formatting and assembling content in appropriate platforms or applications for distribution.
Manages social media efforts, including creating and scheduling content, monitoring social media activity, and directing responses. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Develop, manage, and maintain content for company intranet pages.
Supports the creation/editing and distribution of various corporate messages.
Ensures internal and external messages are consistent and support HEMC’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Collaborate with other team members and external agencies to develop campaigns and collateral.
May represent HEMC at various community engagement events.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English or work specific experience that demonstrates the equivalent knowledge and ability to successful perform this role.
No specific years' experience is required with the degree as outlined above. It is preferred that individuals who do not possess the degree have four or more years' experience.

• Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate exceptionally well. • Requires the ability to communicate details regarding Habersham EMC’s products and services in easy-to-understand language. • Strong computer skills required including proficiency Microsoft Excel and Word. • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task proficiently. • Requires a neat appearance and dresses appropriately for the position in accordance with company standards. • Maintains confidentiality of all consumer information and documentation. • Requires the ability to satisfactorily pass Habersham EMC’s employment entrance examination and drug screen.
Experience with web-site support; experience with electric cooperatives; proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
