1. Provides thought leadership around communications and visual/written identity for OCR. Develops a multi-year strategic plan around communication strategies to highlight impact and how to engage.2. Develops, executes and maintains a strong social media presence to engage our stakeholders and keep them involved. Produces videos, coordinates outputs around specific themes and initiatives, and creates and manages online groups.3. Develops and executes public relations strategy, output, and performance for the department with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific and alumni media. Ensures consistent look and tone for all department communications, including written content, website and social media. 4. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with media representatives. Identifies opportunities to work with other the departments, university publications and the Office of Public Affairs to develop and publicize stories. 5. Assesses the University faculty inventions and other related OCR facilitated accomplishments and creates compelling news and public relations content. Creates engaging, dynamic content for the public, including press releases, blog articles, website updates, newsletter articles and social media. 6. Manages delivery channels for newsworthy content, including updating and maintaining the department websites, social media accounts, and articles for email newsletters, and creating video, print, and on-campus events. Creates websites that embed existing content from Yale and external sites (publications related to the technology, videos featuring inventor, profile on Yale Bulletin and Calendar innovators webpage). 7. Ensures the OCR website is effective at communicating our message and consistent across all aspects. Develops a strategy to keep fresh, relevant, and up-to-date.8. Develops and executes marketing campaigns to highlight the ways OCR can partner with faculty to assist in the commercialization of their technologies and the resources we can bring to bear. Assists the business development team market opportunities to external partners for commercialization opportunities.9. Develops programs and initiatives to engage directly with internal stakeholders. Communicates our processes and what we can offer in support of them. Assesses impact of outreach effectiveness and adjusts as needed for maximum effectiveness. 10. Develops communications strategy to showcase top technologies available for license. Coordinates department efforts to maximize exposure to potential partners.11. Creates and coordinates opportunities, content, and communications for collaborative events and initiatives to increase OCR's influence across campus and within the innovation ecosystem.12. Leads communications & marketing efforts on programs that support OCR's mission. Provides outreach, information sessions, application process support, coordination of diverse groups (internal & external), and other similar efforts. 13. Examines how we can do a better job of marketing our technologies across a variety of platforms and explores new opportunities where OCR can impact Yale, including website redesign, avenues for faculty outreach, growing social media presence, attracting additional local/national media attention, and office branding. 14. Seeks out, negotiates with and recommends external organizations that can provide services that optimize both the cost and functionality of the communications, marketing, and program management strategy. 15. Ensures that all communications conform to the University guidelines. 16. Hires and manages student coordinators and contributors to OCR social media, blog, video and other content and platforms. 17. Performs other duties as assigned.
