Wesley in Des Moines, Washington has an immediate opening for a Director of Nursing Services, Health Center.
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, staffing and controlling nursing resources and personnel to provide the best possible care for the spiritual, mental and physical needs of the individual resident. Wesley's Director of Nursing ensures the Health Center is in compliance with State and Federal regulations governing long term care. The Director also maintains harmonious relationships among nursing personnel, residents, families, the public and other Wesley departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Overall operational authority of all Nursing staff in the Health Center, supporting company policies and procedures, maintaining nursing standards of practice, maintain quality patient care, and ensuring the facility follows all applicable state and federal long term care regulations. 2. Participate in the financial planning and control of the nursing budget, to include staffing ratios in both management and non-management roles. 3. Delegate as appropriate responsibilities such as hiring, patient care, coaching and performance feedback to the Nursing leaders. 4. Promote efficiency, harmony, and effectiveness in coordinating patient care with other health professionals and other departments. Assume public relations responsibilities in interacting with residents, visitors, relatives, personnel, physicians and other agencies. 5. Continually evaluate the level of nursing care by making rounds throughout the facility. Meet new residents and family members to establish a rapport and assure the resident’s needs are being met. 6. Assist State surveyors during annual licensing survey process. 7. Coordinate with local schools, colleges, and technical training organizations in planning clinical experiences for their respective students. 8. Coordinate the placement of new admissions to the facility and ensure that the nursing care requirements of the new admissions can be met. 9. Perform other duties assigned by the Campus Administrator.
Education Background High school diploma BS in Nursing or related field
• Licensure, Registration, Certification RN License – WA State CPR Certification
• Special Training/Skills Knowledge of WA State nurse practice laws and federal guidelines governing long-term care. Demonstrated leadership teaching and public relations skills Possess good communications skills and have the ability to speak and understand English.
• Work Experience Management experience is a highly active SNF. Experience and/or training in geriatric nursing practice.
• Physical Demands Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and to be able to move around the campus freely. Ability to perform common computer tasks frequently throughout the day. Ability to lift 50lbs
INFECTIOUS RISK CATEGORY HIGH RISK: Likely to have frequent occupational exposure with patient’s blood or other body fluids. May require protective equipment to be worn during some aspects of direct patient care.
