Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist)
The Education Department at USC Shoah Foundation works to bring testimony-based education programming, multimedia resources and digital tools to educators and students worldwide that support them in attaining curricular outcomes and promoting the capacity to counter hate in the world. As such, the Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist) contributes to the execution of the Departmentâs content development strategy via its educational platforms and helps monitor impact via analytics tracking and reporting. We seek a candidate who is dedicated to ensuring that the Departmentâs testimony-based content is of highest quality, relevant and engaging, that it meets quality assurance standards and that the Institute is represented well to external audiences.
The Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist) works closely with the Content Manager and content development team to implement the content strategy for the Instituteâs educational website and other platforms. The Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist) helps to ensure the team adheres to content publication standards and process and ensures content is aligned to those. This requires a high level of attention to detail, organization and ability to work with others. The Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist) helps to monitor website content QA and ensures that the user network is supported. An important duty of the position is the ability to extract, analyze and interpret website data (e.g. Google analytics), as well as communicate it to various audiences.
The successful candidate will demonstrate high level of skill in writing, editing and proofreading with efficiency and accuracy. Understanding of the field of education (e.g. teaching, learning, instructional design, assessment) a plus. The ability to critically think through and prioritize tasks is critical. The candidate will demonstrate an interest in working closely within a cross-functional team, demonstrate strong communication skills and demonstrate sensitivity and good judgment. The Program Specialist (Content Management Specialist) reports to the Head of Content Management.
This position is funded on contracts/grants and/or gifts.
Works collaboratively with the Head of Content Management and content development team to adhere to the publication schedule, coordinate review, proofreading and feedback loops
Helps to update content review standards, guidelines and processes (in coordination with the Content Development Manager)
Updates and ensures adherence to all publication-related process documents, including content development guides and forms, style/design guides, and other related documents
Works closely with the content team to ensure all content is delivered within schedule and facilitates resolutions to any conflicts in style, content, and design where required
Becomes deeply knowledgeable of all content offerings on the Instituteâs digital platforms and across programs (e.g. content type, quantity, connection between content and program objectives, how content meets Department objectives)
Manages student interns as needed
Reviews content, edits and ensures high quality writing and accessibility by target audience
Help to implement the schedule and process for QA monitoring of content across all digital platforms
Supports content management through the content management system (CMS)
Supports implementation of the help response plan (e.g. help desk procedures, standards)
Supports the day to day operations of the Instituteâs educational website and other digital platforms in coordination with the Content Manager; thoroughly understands the user experience across digital platforms, finds and anticipates bugs using existing tools and processes in coordination with the IT team
Extracts analytic data and other information on user engagement across digital platforms

Required Knowledge, Characteristics and Skills
Background in editing, proofreading, digital learning platforms, web content management, databases or related areas
Highly detail-oriented and organized
Sharp analytical skills, ability to synthesize large amount of data
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Strong social skills, including tact, diplomacy, flexibility, cooperation, and respect
Able to work collaboratively and efficiently within a cross functional team
Excellent proofreading skills with a sharp eye for design and layout
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility to adapt to evolving processes, deadlines, and technology and the motivation to independently seek new solutions
Working knowledge of citation style guides (e.g. APA)
Demonstrated skill in use of various software tools (e.g. MS Word suite, Adobe Creative suite, CMS, databases, Basecamp, etc.)
Basic HTML knowledge and skill
Knowledge of digital instructional design a plus
Sensitivity and good judgement

Bilingual competency a plus

Minimum 3 years work experience combined from each of the following areas:
Writing, editing, proofreading
Website content management, working with CMSâs
Experience also in these areas a plus:
Education, Teaching and learning (K-12/University), instructional design
Holocaust education/genocide education/diversity and inclusion
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated skills using various software programs and tools (e.g. MS Word suite, Adobe Creative suite, CMS, databases, Basecamp, etc.)
