Information Sciences Institute (ISI), a unit of USCâs Viterbi School of Engineering, is a world leader in the research and development of advanced information processing, computing, and communications technologies. ISI operates one of the worldâs largest academic high-performance computing clusters. ISI has three research campuses:Â one in Marina Del Rey, CA; one in Arlington, VA; and one in Waltham, MA.

The work at ISI ranges from theoretical basic research, such as core engineering and computer science discovery, to applied research and development, such as design and modeling of innovative prototypes and devices.
We are seeking a skilled Public Communications Specialist who will help tell stories and publicize the great research and advancements that happen at ISI every day.
As a Public Communications Specialist, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of researchers ranging from graduate students to globally-recognized computer scientists and faculty members.
This position requires a range of existing skills, capabilities, and/or prior experience, including:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to self-manage time across multiple concurrent projects
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be preferred:
Basic website editing (knowledge of Wordpress is a plus)
Experience with social media
Layout and basic design concepts
Responsibilities will include:
Writing and editing copy for the isi.edu and other USC websites
Ongoing content maintenance of ISI's website as well aiding faculty and staff with other website projects as assigned
Editing and uploading minor design elements on websites
Monitoring and posting to social media
Writing and editing copy for reports, formal documents, printed media, etc., as assigned
Communicating with internal and external sources as necessary to complete assignments
Reviewing and researching documentation
Coordinating other resources (including consultants, photographers, etc.) to complete assignments.
Interviewing students, staff, and faculty for assignments
Cultivating storyÂ ideas and leads
