DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONSTUDIES The department offers B.A. degree programs in General Communication Studies, Public Relations, Film Studies and Journalism, and an M.A. program in Communication Studies. As one of the largest and most academically diverse departments on campus, with over 1,900 undergraduate majors, we value inclusive and engaging pedagogy and scholarship using a variety of strategies, technologies, and methods. With 28 full-time, tenure track faculty we strive to create a learning environment that appreciates human diversity situated in the rich tapestry of the greater Sacramento region. Provide curricular leadership in rhetoric.
Teach introductory and advanced level courses.
Advise undergraduate and graduate students;
Serve on graduate student committees and supervise graduate students in preparation for their comprehensive examinations or theses;
Engage in scholarly activities;
Provide service to the department, campus, and community.
Ph.D. in communication studies with an unambiguous emphasis on rhetoric. ABD considered, but all degree requirements must be complete by the time of appointment, August 2020.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.
Ability to teach introductory, advanced, and graduate level courses.
Interest in and the ability to conduct scholarly research.
Prior teaching and research experience at the university level specifically in rhetoric.
Established record of research.
Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse and underrepresented groups.
