The Springfield market includes a 250 bed full service acute care hospital, a critical access hospital and a free standing emergency department (opening October 2019). The Market Chief Nurse Executive (MCNE) serves as the nurse executive for the hospital, and has oversight for the overall clinical and administrative leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation of complex and diverse nursing services; and the provision of quality patient care throughout the hospital.
The MCNE provides strategic direction for professional nursing practice to achieve the strategic objectives of Bon Secours Mercy Health and the highest patient outcomes.
The MCNE is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operations including planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, directing and controlling of all nursing in the market. The MCNE secures adequate resources for ensuring safety, competency, and professional development of nursing staff. The MCNE facilitates Clinical optimization.
The position provides leadership to all levels of nursing, quality, infection control, care management and interdisciplinary team members to build a patient care environment that offers a caring, quality patient experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Ohio with a Master of Science degree in Nursing or health related field. Knowledge of general business organization, nursing, basic finance and accounting theories and applications, personnel and sociology theories and functions and ability to perform semi-complex statistical functions.
Five to seven years of progressively more responsible administrative experience in order to effectively organize and direct all patient care activities and functions within areas of responsibility.
Interpersonal skills essential in order to handle highly sensitive issues and programs, maintain effective communication between physicians, Directors/Managers, and other health center staff in exchanging information and aiding in problem-solving, and in order to promote and maintain good public relations.
Analytical skills necessary in order to perform various data analysis techniques, review statistical data for the purpose of departmental planning and control, in the preparation of budgets and in problem-solving.
