The Admissions Counselor and Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment leads initiatives designed to recruit students from a variety of racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds who will benefit from a Salve education and enhance the overall collegiate community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Admissions Counselor and Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment is a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions Recruitment Team, tasked with developing and implementing recruitment strategy on behalf of the University. Primary responsibilities include:
Work with office leadership to develop and implement a recruitment plan designed to increase enrollment of students from diverse backgrounds to the University
Lead the application and review process for the Martin Luther King, Jr Scholarship (MLK)
Review applications for admission to the University
10-15 weeks of recruitment travel in the fall and 3-5 weeks of recruitment travel in the spring, including some international travel
Management of an assigned recruitment territory
Serve as liaison to the Office of Multicultural Programs
Work with the Visitor Relations Team to develop and implement overnight programs for multicultural prospects in the fall and spring
Promote cultural competency amongst other members of the Admissions team
Give regular presentations to prospective students and families
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Relevant experience providing leadership to and working with students in a multicultural environment, preferred. Spanish language proficiency preferred. A passion for working with students from underrepresented backgrounds and promoting cultural competency on campus is essential. Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills required with a positive attitude toward work. Must possess a high regard for diplomacy, loyalty, confidentiality, and punctuality. Must have demonstrated public relations skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and a wide variety of administrative offices. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs is required. Ability as a self-starter and problem solver preferred. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of an office team. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
