The Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE) is the first professional school at UC Santa Cruz, originally founded in 1997. Over the past 20 years, BSOE has become a unique 21st century school of engineering and technology, characterized by evolutionary growth fueled by on-going research opportunities that open new areas of intellectual inquiry. BSOE comprises six academic departments, numerous research centers and institutes, and has plans for further programmatic growth. The focus of BSOE's educational programs is to instill strong basic knowledge for sound practice in science and engineering for positive social impact, and its diverse curricula facilitates innovative thinking and prepares students for productive and rewarding careers.
Involves the planning and organizing of event activities, including managing logistics such as facilities, tickets, audience management activities, concessionaires, caterers, and vendors, and facilitation of communication and services with speakers and facility maintenance staff; or provides technical support of these activities.
This position assists in planning, organizing, and implementing events and functions, which may include symposiums, conferences, program events, banquets, and VIP briefings. May independently manage small, non-complex events.
NOTE: Two part time positions are available.

Bachelors' degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Related administrative experience in event planning and public relations.
Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, effective calendar management and student and/or volunteer scheduling.
Project management skills sufficient to coordinate a wide range of events, and to successfully manage multiple projects and work assignments simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating political acumen and social perceptiveness, exceptional customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
