Teach a range of courses in public relations and affiliated communication disciplines as needed. Course assignments may include Principles of PR, Public Relations Writing, PR Cases and Campaigns, PR Techniques, PR Management, and other courses as appropriate. This may include specific special topics courses, including possible coursework preparing students for the Bateman PR competition, as well as coursework in the candidate’s area of expertise. Conduct office hours and advise students. Participate in area, School, and College meetings. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with Hawk Communication, the School’s student driven strategic communication agency, as well as other School initiatives and assets. Assist in the continued evolution of the School’s PR program with a focus on analytics, social media content, and the convergence of PR and strategic communication.
Master’s degree in Public Relations or relevant discipline preferred. Previous experience teaching college PR or related coursework is required. Professional experience in PR required. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of current trends in the field of public relations, and related fields of strategic communication, advertising and marketing. Fluency in contemporary skills such as content strategy, social media management and metrics, PR campaigns and digital storytelling is highly desirable. Ability to work collaboratively to build and grow a dynamic and innovative program necessary.
