Dixon Hall Neighbourhood Services (the Agency) is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Director, Philanthropy and Communications.
Working collaboratively and strategically with the CEO, the Director of Philanthropy and Communications will be a member of Dixon Hall's Leadership Team, responsible for managing the overall strategic goals of the department. The Director of Philanthropy and communications will design and implement a revenue development strategy, build an annual fundraising campaign, bring excitement, energy and growth to new opportunities, foster donor stewardship, lead Capital and other Campaigns with designated campaign Chairs and oversee agency communications, brand development, marketing and public relations strategies, promote Dixon Hall’s programs and services and coordinate funding applications and deadlines across agency program areas. As Dixon Hall expands its data gathering and research initiatives, you will play a significant role in coordinating the utilization of this information to augment the agency’s profile.
As a member of the Leadership Team, the successful applicant will participate in the overall management of the agency and contributes to strategic and operational planning to advance the mission and goals of Dixon Hall. From time to time, the Director of Philanthropy and Communications will be involved in Board committees, initiatives and events.
Dixon Hall is seeking a candidate who will:
Design and execute a comprehensive development strategy to include the major portfolios of planned giving, major gifts (including stewardship), grants and foundations, special events, individual donors and related campaigns, corporate sponsorships and capital campaigns.
Pursue a highly targeted approach toward identifying, cultivating, soliciting and providing stewardship to prospects and donors intended to secure financial support to meet annual fundraising targets.
Take a leadership role in and guide the activities and strategies of the Board of Directors’ Philanthropy and Communications sub-Committee.
Develop and implement a formalized donor recognition and stewardship program to ensure all donors receive appropriate, consistent recognition and an accounting of the impact of their gifts.
Lead the development, implementation and sustainability of a planned giving program.
Develop, implement, and oversee both internal and external communication strategies to ensure uniformity and consistency of all agency communications e.g. website, all social media, newsletters, brochures, etc., and ensure all programs and services are effectively communicated and promoted to diverse groups and the community served.
Lead the development of all internal and external communication vehicles and strategies to deliver relevant information to Dixon Hall’s staff, constituents and both existing and potential donors.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and credibility of communications strategies and activities
In cooperation with the People and Culture team, build a strong team that works cross-departmentally to build passion for the Agency with all staff.
Participate in the development of the annual operating budget.
In cooperation with the CFO, review and analyze financial statements in order to establish action on variances to bring expenditures in line with budget on a monthly basis.
Establish and report fundraising revenue projections monthly.
Act in a leadership capacity in the development of community partnerships with other service providers, government agencies and departments and other community agencies.
Seek opportunities to ensure a participative working relationship with funders.
University or College Graduate, with a CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification an asset
Minimum of 5-7 years of fundraising experience with proven managerial experience.
A proven track record of successfully securing major corporate and individual donors.
Extensive knowledge of planned giving, major gifts, corporate foundation support, sponsorship, cause related marketing.
Knowledge of and successful experience with the utilization of social media as fundraising tools.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Strong financial acumen.
Strong verbal and written English language skills; fluency in additional languages that are reflective of the communities in which the Agency operates will be considered an asset.
Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work cooperatively with peers across different disciplines or organizational focus areas.
Understanding of cultural issues and barriers as they relate to a wide range of nationalities and vulnerable groups in society.
Available to occasionally work a variable schedule including some evenings and weekends.
Qualified to work in Canada.
Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a “Clear” or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the agency.
