Location: New York, NY Job Description: Unit-Specific Responsibilities 1) Supports and/or leads targeted projects in coordination with Chicago Booth Advancement team in the New York Regional Office (NYRO). 2) Report to Director, Major and Principal Gifts, NY Region and collaborate with Senior Director and all gift officers in the NYRO to support the fundraising goals of the Booth Advancement Team. 3) Provide information in response to specific requests, direct calls and other relevant information to appropriate individuals while using discretion and judgment with confidential information. 4) Develop a network of professional contacts and provide advisory assistance to other Booth and University offices that seek it. 5) The Development Coordinator is encouraged to initiate projects that will be beneficial to the NY Advancement team, and is expected to anticipate next steps and follow-up related to fundraising activity and active prospect management. 6) Travel to Chicago 2-3 times a year will be expected, and occasional travel to areas covered by the NY Regional Office may be required. 7) Responsibilities include assisting with implementation of regional strategy, planning and executing Advancement-focused events, and collaborating with University colleagues and volunteers to advance the philanthropic and engagement goals of Chicago Booth. 8) Lead the planning and execution of all New York-based advancement programming needs including deansâ™ events and the annual Economic Outlook dinner. staff events as needed. 9) Build and maintain an inventory of New York-based advancement events and contribute to the strategic development of new events and programs. 10) Manage event follow-up with attendees and identify potential new prospects. 11) Participate in prospect strategy development as it relates to prospect qualification, cultivation, stewardship, etc. and support gift officers with effective prospect cultivation and stewardship tracking. 12) Assist in the preparation of prospect briefings, travel agendas, and materials for gift officers, deans, faculty, and senior leaders at Booth. 13) In collaboration with Prospect Management team, maintain and share relevant reports to assist gift officers with prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship activities. 14) Run custom database reports upon request. 15) Learn best practices for using our fundraising database to help track fundraising and active management results. 16) Co-produce internal newsletter for the Chicago Booth Advancement team. 17) Co- produce annual east coast newsletter with the Communications team. 18) Manage and disseminate online and print content relevant to giving priorities. 19) In conjunction with the Development Coordinators in San Francisco and Chicago, continue to build and manage a set of internal communications for the Individual Giving teams partnering cross-functionally with Communications and the Centers teams. 20) Follow-up on other advancement-focused projects as needed. 21) Provide general office support for the NY-based Booth Advancement team. Unit-Preferred Competencies 1) Interest in pursuing a career in development is preferred. 2) A strong commitment to customer service, proven track record of problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships. 3) Excellent analytical skills. 4) Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills. 5) Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn the internal workings of the University and the technology tools available to Chicago Booth staff, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. 6) Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting. 7) Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well. Preferred Qualifications Experience 1) A minimum one year of work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, or similar work.
