The Athletics Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting the communications staff in all facets of its operation for an NCAA Division I FBS program that sponsors 16 men’s and women’s sports. The position works with a variety of sports, including football, but serves as the primary communications/ media relations contact for 4-5 assigned sports. Position also assists with other Communications department duties as determined by need.

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, business or any other field related to duties and responsibilities
Minimum of one year of experience in athletics media relations, preferably at the intercollegiate level
Proficiency in desktop publishing software, including InDesign and Photoshop
Proficiency in StatCrew systems
Proficiency in website content management systems
Knowledge of appropriate NCAA regulations
Strong written and interpersonal communications skills
Ability to run an event from all aspects of media relations/communications needs and requirements
Willingness and availability to work nights and weekends and travel
Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and meet deadlines
Ability to work well in a team environment with other staff members, coaches and student-athletes
Ability to work effectively with a diverse community and advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion
Knowledge of appropriate NCAA rules and willingness to support the Department’s commitment to a culture of compliance
