Unit-specific Responsibilities 1) The Assistant Director, Foundation and Corporate Relations will serve as the research expert in FCR, providing timely information on foundations and corporations to the FCR team and identifying relevant open requests for proposals (RFPs) to be disseminated to faculty and staff. 2) In addition, they will assist faculty seeking foundation support for projects by identifying prospects and providing guidance on approaches to potential funders. 3) Maintain an extensive understanding of the foundation and corporate giving landscape to identify current and emerging funding opportunities and to provide insight for University partners. 4) Research foundation priorities, program areas and trends in their philanthropy. 5) Present updates on foundation news and notable changes to FCR team. 6) Organize information on foundations and corporations into strategies and briefings for use by the FCR team and leadership. 7) Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on prospects and donors in Alumni Relations and Development (ARD)â™s development system database. 8) Collaborate with ARD partners to upload data points into the database for prospect identification, rating, and tracking. 9) Develop and maintain prospect research reports using internal and external datasets. 10) Provide guidance on prospect research tools such as Foundation Directory Online. 11) Engage with faculty to discuss individual/defined projects and funding needs. Identify organization prospects for faculty research and University programs. 12) Advise on strategies and potential next steps to secure funding. 13) Maintain a broad understanding of current and emerging priorities and programs at the University in order to determine alignment with foundation and corporation funding interests. 14) On an ongoing basis, use multiple sources to identify relevant open RFPs from key funders, and collaborate with FCR team to direct them to targeted faculty/units. 15) Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
Unit-preferred Competencies 1) Familiarity with a broad range of research techniques, Internet research, searching of electronic databases, and the use of other appropriate sources and methods. 2) Demonstrated skill and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. High level of proficiency with Excel required. 3) Strong writing and communication skills. 4) Experience with development systems, database management or data cleanup a plus. 5) Willingness and ability to travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business. 6) Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications Experience 1) Experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience.
