The NASA-supported Michigan Space Grant Consortium (MSGC) is hiring a Marketing Communications Specialist to take primary responsibility for conducting communication and knowledge translation activities for MSGC, especially with regard to social media, and informing the development of a social media strategy to promote MSGC funding opportunities. The position will also support other MSGC communications needs (newsletters, MSGC website, and NASA reporting), as time allows.
Assist in developing the strategy for MSGC’s social media messaging approach
Establish social media accounts.
Develop and manage the media for social media platforms - write content and produce photos and videos.
Monitor and regularly update social media channels.
Maintain awareness of current trends in social media.
Participate in the planning, execution and digital capture of MSGC events, especially with respect to factors that impact social media.
As needed and as time allows, assist with other communications-related tasks such as newsletters, MSGC website, and NASA reporting
Two years of college courses in Marketing, Communications, Social Media Marketing, or related field OR Associates degree in a related field
Experience related to marketing/communications
Experience in social media content/strategy/analytics
Knowledgeable about popular social medical platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Knowledgeable about best practices for engaging various audiences
Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, and Adobe Acrobat
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Social Media Marketing, or related field
Two or more years of marketing and engagement experience in Social Media Content/ Strategy/Analytics
Basic photography and videography knowledge
Familiarity with software for video and audio editing, graphic design and desktop publishing
Familiarity with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and/or other graphic design software packages
One or more years of graphic design experience across a variety of digital and print media.
This is a 50% part-time, term-limited position through May 9, 2020. There could be a possibility of extension. The salary range listed represents the full-time rates.
