The Oregon State Productions team is seeking a Broadcast News Producer. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
The Oregon State Productions team produces, coordinates and distributes video, multimedia and film content that advances the reputation and reach of Oregon State University and helps to fulfill the university's land grant mission to educate the public and improve the wellbeing and prosperity of Oregonians and constituents across the globe. The Broadcast News Producer builds and fosters relationships with local, national and international media outlets and video producers, serving as their liaison to campus as well as pro-actively pitching, shooting, editing and placing OSU content on broadcast news, television, film, online and social media platforms internationally. Part of a dynamic team of news writers and media producers, the Broadcast News Producer role offers the opportunity to work with dynamic faculty and students at one of the nation’s preeminent research universities, covering stories and people who are addressing the biggest challenges of our time.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field. Professional experience in public relations and journalism or news writing.
Minimum three years experience working in a newsroom or fast-paced video production environment
Bachelor's degree in media production, journalism, film, communications, English or additional four years of equivalent newsroom/production experience
Strong video production and editing capabilities, including a portfolio or demo reel of work
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
This role requires flexible work hours to accommodate broadcast deadlines as well as occasional travel around the state to work on various OSU locations and properties. The ability to carry up to 40 lbs of camera gear and film in a range of conditions is required.
