Position Description: The UCLA Center for Diverse Leadership in Science (CDLS) seeks an energetic, thoughtful, self-motivated, creative and resourceful, ambitious, organized, highly-skilled, and flexible professional with evidence they are passionately committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental science. They should have leadership experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and have worked with and engaged in outreach to low-resource communities and underrepresented minority communities. They will serve as Assistant Director for Assessment and Education Research and Partnerships of CDLS to assist the Faculty Director and Operations Team in carrying out its mission and to help coordinate, implement, administer, represent, grow, and manage CDLS and CDLS programs.
Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Assistant Director for Assessment and Education Research and Partnerships will lead assessment and research endeavors in addition to developing collaboration opportunities and partnerships for the Center. Primary responsibilities include research and assessment management, writing and submitting proposals, developing and managing collaboration opportunities, developing strategies to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts, contributing to strategic planning for CDLS, and developing communications to enhance visibility and impact of CDLS research and assessment efforts.
This work will include engaging faculty, researchers, staff, students and community partners; working to create a development and growth plan for the Center; liaising with the operations committee, board, administration, and partners.
The incumbent will act as a professional and friendly public relations representative with affiliated organizations, at public events and meetings, and will make public presentations at program related events, symposiums and workshops; facilitate marketing, media, and outreach efforts while building external partnerships with funders, political, and community leaders. Must thrive on change, innovation and teamwork.
