Working closely with the Dean of Liberal Studies, the Assistant Dean of Liberal Studies, the English as a Second Language Department, the First Year and Foundational Literacy Department (i.e., developmental English), admissions, and advising, the ESL/Developmental English Achievement Coach is responsible for providing a broad range of services in support of students. The Achievement Coach will help with student recruitment; initiate student contact to ensure student success; counsel students on attendance and other issues; research and evaluate available community services in assisting students to remove barriers to successful learning; and, develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist faculty advising efforts in student recruitment and registration process; serves as liaison between students, deans/assistant deans, faculty, admissions, and advising staff.
Analyze and interpret student data and placement results; maintains confidential database of active case files.
Implement intrusive advising practices to identify and support students at-risk of failing or withdrawing from courses.
Advise students about degree requirements, appropriate academic course loads, and course selection; help students make academic decisions.
Assist in implementing retention activities, such as emailing or making phone calls to current or prospective students, collecting or reviewing data to be compiled (such as retention/attrition reports, recruitment reports, etc.).
Participate in college programs for professional development and advisor training.
Refer students, as necessary, to other College offices and other support services, such as tutoring, accessibility services, and career services.
Provide referrals and support for students experiencing family, personal, or economic crises which may impact school performance;
Support orientation programs; participate in open houses, information sessions, and registration events.
Commute to area high-schools and both the Lynn and Danvers campuses for meetings, programs, and events as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $28.29 per hour. Non-benefited, MCCC position, up to 20 hours per week.

B.A. degree required. Completion of a Master's degree program in TESOL, linguistics, education, or related field (highly preferred).

Ability to follow complex oral and written directions, work independently.
Ability to travel between campuses and area high schools.

Additional Salary Information: $28.29 per hour. Non-benefited, MCCC position, up to 20 hours per week.
