The Production and Technical Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Common Spaces. The position will be the primary resource for the technical and production operations related to the Smith Campus Center and the Science Center Plaza, working collaboratively as part of small and nimble team. Both spaces serve Harvard faculty, students, staff, and visiting speakers and performers and are designed to support large-scale events, talks, seminars, social events, and performances across the many disciplines represented at the University.
The position will oversee technical and production needs of events, activities, and programs at both the Smith Campus Center and the Plazas including lighting and video and audio projection for performance, screenings, and public events. This position will be responsible for the equipment set-up for public programming and special events; installing audiovisual equipment, projectors and media players, adjusting lighting. Under the direction of the Associate Director, will maintain all equipment and develop protocols and budget for renewal and replacement in of equipment.
Technology Skills Required: Working knowledge of media technology that includes video projection, audio, and lighting.
Special Requirements: This is a 40 hour position Tuesday through Saturday, with flexible hours depending on the weekly events schedule taking place in the Smith Campus Center and Plaza. Note: Scheduling flexibility is required. Candidates must be available to staff programs, many of which take place in the evening and weekends.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move related audio/visual/projection equipment.

High School Diploma or equivalent with three to five years relevant experience, thorough knowledge of the use and design of media equipment and systems.
Bachelor's degree in the arts, music, or technical production is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with artists, diverse faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of interdisciplinary situations; Working knowledge and experience on site management: stage or venue; Working knowledge and experience with video projection, audio and lighting for performance and programs. Prior leadership or coordination experience preferred.
